Ethereum Gas Fee & ETH / Gwei / Wei Calculator
Convert Ethereum denominations precisely and model an EIP-1559 transaction fee from gas used, base fee, priority fee and max fee—without depending on a live gas or ETH-price API.
Ethereum denomination converter
Convert ETH, Gwei and Wei precisely
The unit converter uses integer scaling so common ETH ↔ Gwei ↔ Wei conversions do not depend on floating-point rounding.

EIP-1559 fee scenario
Model gas used, base fee, tip and max fee together
Enter the values from a wallet, block explorer or your own scenario. The tool models the effective gas price as the lower of your max fee and base fee + priority fee.
Requested base + tip
22.000 Gwei
Modeled effective gas price

Optional fiat reference
Enter an ETH price manually if you want to translate the modeled fee into fiat. FormatForge does not fetch a live ETH price.

How the EIP-1559 estimate works
Requested price
base fee + priority fee
Effective modeled price
min(max fee, requested price)
Estimated fee
gas used × effective price
Maximum cap
gas limit × max fee
The maximum cap is not the same as the amount necessarily paid. Unused gas is not charged as if it were consumed, and actual network conditions can differ from the values you enter.
No live gas estimate or transaction guarantee
Wallets, RPC providers and block explorers may estimate current gas differently. Smart-contract transactions can use far more than a basic ETH transfer. This tool performs arithmetic from your inputs; it does not guarantee transaction inclusion, execution success or actual gas usage.

Gas calculation and denomination conversion belong together
Ethereum gas prices are usually discussed in Gwei while balances and final fees are commonly shown in ETH. Combining ETH, Gwei and Wei conversion with fee mathematics avoids creating a thin standalone unit page.
Important boundary
Entered gas values are not a network forecast
FormatForge does not choose a gas price or promise transaction inclusion. Use your wallet, node or block explorer for current network estimates, then use this tool to understand and compare the arithmetic.
Frequently asked questions
How is the estimated Ethereum gas fee calculated?
The tool models an effective gas price as the lower of max fee per gas and base fee plus priority fee, then multiplies that effective price by the entered gas used.
What is Gwei?
Gwei is a denomination of ether commonly used for gas prices. One Gwei equals 0.000000001 ETH, or one billion Wei.
How many Wei are in one ETH?
One ETH equals 1,000,000,000,000,000,000 Wei, or 10^18 Wei.
Why is max fee different from the estimated fee?
Max fee per gas is a cap in the scenario. The modeled effective price can be lower, and the maximum fee cap also assumes the full entered gas limit were charged at the max fee.
Is 21,000 gas always enough?
No. A basic ETH transfer commonly uses 21,000 gas, but smart-contract interactions can require substantially more. Use values from your wallet, RPC provider, block explorer or your own scenario.
Does FormatForge fetch the current Ethereum gas price?
No. Base fee, priority fee, max fee and ETH price are entered manually so the calculation remains deterministic and does not depend on a live API.
Does the calculator guarantee a transaction will be included?
No. Network conditions can change and wallets or nodes may estimate fees differently. The tool only performs arithmetic from the values you enter.
Are ETH, Gwei and Wei conversions precise?
The denomination converter uses integer scaling for common conversions instead of relying only on floating-point arithmetic.
